With 42 banks with 5,658 employees, 3,988 financial, accountant and real estate activities with a total of 9,500 employees, as well as 2,000 insurers in Ticino, Lugano is Switzerland's third largest financial centre. The city is remarkable not only for the wide range of end-user services, but also for the possibility of professional training refreshers provided to employees in the sector thanks to the area’s institutions, such as the Faculty of Economics (USI) and the Department of Business Economics, Health and Social Care DEASS (SUPSI). The financial sector is also promoted by the association Ticino for Finance, which sees the Department of Finance and Economy of the Canton of Ticino and the Ticino Banking Association working together with the City of Lugano. Lugano is an ideal centre for the organisation of events related to the financial sector, offering numerous possibilities for networking and new partnerships.
