The Palazzo dei Congressi hosted the first edition in attendance after the covid pandemic of the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS), the international event organised annually by the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA).
More than 750 delegates from all over the world and from the various fields of outdoor tourism gathered in Lugano from 3 to 6 October 2022 to address topics such as the role of tour operators, bloggers and influencers, the relationship with tourism boards and public institutions, and the involvement of leisure and adventure equipment suppliers.
This year's Summit focused on the four fundamental natural elements - air, water, fire and earth - from which, the participants themed not only the promotion of natural wonders, but also and above all their sustainable use and preservation. In particular, it should be emphasised that the Summit was one of the first congresses held in Switzerland that was totally sustainable and carbon-neutral.
Thanks to the collaboration with AIL SA, (Aziende Industriali di Lugano SA), renewable energy sources were used, such as electricity from local hydroelectric power plants (tìacqua), or Biogas for heating. Participants also particularly appreciated the possibility of free use of local natural water through dispensers installed free of charge by Bluwater in our premises.
